ALL the Trader Vic's locations

Pages: 1 22 replies

I have made a concerted effort to compile a list of ALL of the Trader Vic's locations over at The Tikipedia (phew!). It includes addresses and, if known, when the location opened. If I don't know exactly when it opened I'm making a rough attempt to put it in chronological order based on marketing materials and photos.

Please take a look and feel free to add or change anything: http://www.thetikipedia.com/doku/doku.php?id=location:trader_vics:start

Man, I thought the Don The Beachcomber page was bad enough!

Vancouver is missing.

Got it.

J

The Downtown L.A. one is missing. I'm shocked that Boris missed that !!

J

Also Las Vegas. This depressing post I did a while back documents some of the recent closings...

Also add the closing of Palo Alto which I think was last year.

EDIT - Actually Palo Alto closed in 2012.

Do you mean the one at Olympic Blvd? Any idea when they opened?

Added Las Vegas. I already have Palo Alto in there, although I don't know what year it opened.

Crap. The Trader Vic's corporate website lists quite a few additional locations, but I have no idea when they opened. Added them at the bottom of the list.

It is on Olympic. I think it opened in 2009.

Thanks for looking, everybody! I think I've got all those corrections added. I don't have the close dates listed on this page. I considered it, but could only find that info on a few locations. I think that kind of info can go on the individual pages for these locations, which will be the next big task. And, of course, if anyone else wants to add them, knock yourselves out.

This Trader Vic's Munich cocktail menu lists a location in Kazakhstan.

465 Gornaya Street (Medeu Stadium)
Almaty, Kazakhstan

I don't know when it opened or if it's still there, but it appears to have existed at least for a while. See this review...

According to Wikipedia, Medeu Stadium had a major renovation in 2011. Maybe the restaurant opened then?

Now that's some sleuthing! I like it. :) I'll do a bit more digging and get it added.

Can't forget the Boston Trader Vic's that was at the Park Plaza Hotel.

Funny that the Boston one doesn't seem to be listed here on TC. It has now been added (without a date, but guessing early 60s based on ephemera), along with Kazakhstan. Any others?

Edit: Turns out the one in Boston was in the Statler Hotel, which later became the Park Plaza. I found a postcard of it postmarked 1966.

Okay, I have a date for Toronto: June, 1975, per this website.

Ad from Toronto Life, June 1975.

The Hotel Toronto became the Westin in 1980 and the Toronto Hilton in 1987. I don't know when Vic's closed. This location seems to be one of the most poorly documented of all the Vic's.

I'm assuming you're using this a a resource...

That would have been too easy! :D
