No Luau tonight!

Brrrrr, they look cold!

TM

80 degrees this week here in southern California....heading out to palm springs this weekend, where it will be 90.

TM

sorry!

TM

Great pictures, by the way.

Forlorn tiki

T

Freezing and snow Saturday, 50 and sunny the last 3 days.

Four tiki’s in winter. : )

The title of this thread would make a good story title...

But this winter is harsh, I had to breakout my winter T-Shirts
here in Cali, I think it got down to 72 degrees at the beach, really sucks.... :D

P.S. I think I just heard a crash from Big Kahuna's house?

Lance, you got a mean streak!
Again, when do you sleep?
Cheers

My job has me working into the wee hours very frequently, David
which is why I may post here more often then some folks may care for, but
someone has to keep an eye out for the place while everyone else is sleeping

I may have been insensitive to the Hemispherically challenged & for that I do apologize
Hearn, I am sorry I don't have any beautiful winter photos to share, I actually went outside here in SoCal
took some photos, but the 80 plus degree weather here is so uncharacteristic I would feel bad posting them.

No offense taken. Here in DC we do get our fair share of snow...and FAR more damaging...politicians...but as a transplanted New Yorker and life-long East Coaster, that makes me appreciate the Tiki Lifestyle even more when I can escape to paradise.

TS, your pix deserve two postings!
In Regard to your 1rst pic-izzat a giant Moai head or a trick camera shot?
David

I have always thought the coolest thing on earth was to see a Tiki covered in snow, it just adds to the next level of surrealness, great photos Tikiskip,

That is one of the Moai from the front of the old Kahiki in Columbus Ohio.
I was able to get this years after Kahiki closed, this is the left one.
It sits in my back yard now and is about 15 feet tall when standing.

Thanks Bosko,
Kahiki in the winter was a lot like the movie Lost Horizon where you come from the snow and ice and enter a
Shangri-La of tropical splendor.
That was very cool!!

Mine is completely buried but once it surfaces, I think I can declare it spring!

Four degrees in Kzoo this morning but the sun is out for a change.

T

Still winter.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Fiberglass tiki by Wayne coombs of Mai Tiki.

Hold on Skip. I'm neck deep in winter with ya. The blizzard here in Kazoo yesterday day was super fun. Total whiteouts with 45 mph winds and blowing snow and windchill values as low as -35. I think I saw mastodon tracks on my patio this morning.

T

Used to ski in Michigan when I was young and bones no ache.
It is very pretty there.

Was taking photos in that white out here, hard to focus camera and
keep snow off lens.

But if you are young and don't need to stay in these frozen lands.
GET OUT!
Leave now while you can! winter sucks!
And it sucks even more when you are older.

Someone trying to maintain Aloha spirit in freezing climate:

Here's my snow covered bar:

That looks like a big frozen Tiki drink.

Is just me or do those tiki's in the snow look like they're crying?

T

"Is just me or do those tiki's in the snow look like they're crying?"
Yes, in fact I said that in my post, we all cried that year it was so cold.
A record 17 below that year.
You could throw hot water in the air and it would turn to ice before it hit the ground.
do not know these people in video, not mine.

The signs of spring are starting to show up here in Michigan. Even though we just had a major snow storm this week the Robins and Redwing Blackbirds are back. Another indicator of spring in Michigan is the annual arrival of semi loads of bagged garden mulch stacked up for sale at local gas stations. I'm not joking either. Rows and rows of bags of mulch for sale at most of the gas stations around here. Strange. I have so much snow in my yard I half expect to see a mastodon and a couple of cavemen to start melting out of the piles. I'm so done with winter.
