I am very honored to have one of my tikis (the big kanaloa) was presented to the Mai Kai on behalf of the hukilau, and is now a permanent piece there...

he looks cool during the day, but he really comes to life at night with proper up-lighting... :)

Congratz Jeff!
What a great tiki! and what a great place for it to live.

Man there are almost no Hukilau photos on TC.

Congratulations!

Very awesome honor... I would think if you make a Tiki, that the Mai Kai would be certainly be
its happy place (hell... it's MY happy place...)

On the photos front, we've got a few I hope to upload soon. Funny thing about Hukilau,
you think you're getting all these great pictures, but once the Black Magic and Jet Pilot
haze clears and your standing in the stark, bright, light of day, you realize most of your
pictures are complete smeary, blurred, off-center dreck.

Or is that just me?? The camera's been drinking, not me...

We did see some folks with pro camera set-ups wandering around,
so there are definitely good pictures to be had.

Personally, we had such a good time that my pictures are mostly terrible.

This was an amazing Hukilau. I think there were double or triple the amount of "sample" cocktails served at all the symposiums and events, including a full double-old-fashioned glass at Jeff Berry's seminar. My photos turned out quite well, and I'm not sure what that means. I think I may have taken one with Jeff and his carving on the Mai-Kai main stage.

On another topic, hey, I just last night got my Hukilau laundry done! hahaha...

I would be proud to put that big boy in my humble abode!

That is a honor you certainly deserve. He certainly is a big guy.

AWESOME!

The guy closest to the camera, in particular, is quite marvelous.

Great work!!

Now, if you can only get one in GROG' Tahonga Room, then you will know you've really made it as a tiki carver. (there's already an AlohaStation in there. :D )

P

call me & we'll make it happen GROG...

don't you have one of Will's pieces too?

Si.

And Crazy Al, Kiegs, Tikimecula, Tiki Diablo, Squid, Kirby, Buzzy, Bosko, Leroy Schmaltz, Tiki Ray, Bamboo Ben, and etc, etc. Some as small as just pendants, and some full size tikis. Supporting tiki artists when GROG have a job and have some money. Right now GROG not working, so may be a while before GROG can get something from you.
