(Don the) Beachcomber Beer

More interesting as an artifact from 1947 showcasing just how Don had infiltrated the zeitgeist of that time. A homemade beer made by college students for an event with some inspired art work on the label.

1301 West Campus Road is the address of a University of Kansas Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Probably made for a major South Pacific themed frat party. GENIUS!

Rock Chalk Jayhawk! Very cool find.My grandmother's second husband was at KU at that time. My dad was there in the late 50's.

Very cool. I wonder if this was actually brewed by a large brewery for a special event. Breweries have been known to make cans and bottles to commemorate special events and Fall City Brewery even produced Billy Beer for a short time. The label is very well made and does it state the beer is 9% ? Those college boys know how to get where they want to be fast. An interesting research project for sure.
