Mai Kai Bartop. How do I make it?

Ever since I returned from The Hukilau a few weeks back I have been OBSESSED with completing my home bar (The TomAndrea Lounge). Though as everyone knows, a Tiki Bar is never REALLY done, the main missing component in the lounge is the Bar itself. I currently have a very nice vintage Herman Wakefield bamboo mini-bar which is getting the job done nicely, but what I really want to do is create a nautical-boat style bar and back-wall ala The Molokai Bar. The back-bar will also feature an old school 3D diorama inspired by the Blue Bayou opening scenes @ Pirates in Disneyland (moody blue lighting, shackled bayou house, fishing boat, creaking frogs etc.)

Anyways...long story short....my visits to The Mai Kai really are what has inspired me and fittingly, I think, I want the bartop itself to be that weathered green/laquered? material seen throughout the Molokai (bartops/table tops etc.).

I tried to take some pics, but they didn't come out (damn you iPhone!).

Does anyone have any good pics of said bartop? Or even better any ideas on how its made? I am assuming it some type of pine/cypress which has been painted green in a weathered/faux finish and then encapsulated in a poured resin/ardex product.

Any tips from the vast tiki-making knowledge out there would be greatly appreciated!

I think Tiki Diablo did that.
He was talking about doing it at the Hukilau when we saw him there.

Just don't know if he did it for the Mai Kai.
Most of the time art types like to keep stuff like that to themselves.

Thanks. Interesting I would never have looked at car videos...but the basic premise applied to wood will get that effect I'm looking for.
