The Story of Rongo

Pages: 1 0 replies

On my Disney-inspired blog Yesterday, Tomorrow, and Fantasy, I've been doing a running series on the gods of the Enchanted Tiki Room. Previously I've covered Tangaroa, Pele, and Maui. Today, I published a piece about Rongo, though it's mostly about Maori cuisine.

I've also been running a series on the songs from the attraction. A couple weeks ago I published a piece on Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing. Previously I've published on Hawaiian War Chant.

In November, to coincide with the release of Moana, I'm going to be publishing another Tiki gods piece, as well as a look at Tiki's pre-history (i.e.: pre-WWII) and tackling the thorny issue of cultural appropriation which seems to crop up on here every time someone gets upset with themselves for how much they've spent on their home Tiki bar.
