Hey all. So I'm finishing up my big round partio table for the Hydeaway (it started life as a six and a half foot tall cable spool!) And I've got these eight, two inch wide, evenly spaced indentations from where the bolts were holding it together. I've been beating my brain trying to figure out what to do with these holes and it just hit me today. I'm gonna seal some coins in there! Getting to the point does anyone know a resource for "tiki theme" coins? I've looked at the geocaching ones and they are cool but not for sale, and what I'd LOVE are a handful of Van Tiki's round medallions but sadly I only see those when I see the man vending in person. Help me TC ohana! You're my only hope! Keaka |

new zealand and cook islands had/have coins with tikis on them. Shouldn't be too hard to find on the net. |

If you are looking to fill 2-inch wide holes, you will have to go for older-style NZ coins as they shrank them in 2001 to save on metal and to save weight - the current 10c and 20c pieces are substantially less than 1 inch wide (20 mm). The old-style 10c coin was almost an inch across (23.62 mm): http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces3523.html Another option is the current French Polynesian 10 Franc coin which is also 23 mm across: http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces930.html Neither of these coins have a high face value or numismatic collectable value so you should be able to pick up a few on-line at reasonable prices. |
