What's Your Favorite Sesame Street Character?

Pages: 1 33 replies

I was always a little Oscar man myself. Not only did he have his own snappy pad but I felt a kindred spirit with Oscar due to his love of trash. "A-nything dirrrty or diiingy or dussssty, A-nything raggged or rottten or russssty, IIIIII Looooove Traaaash!"

Grover. I know he plays second fiddle to Elmo these days, but he's still #1 with me. He's so far from my heart. Or is it near? Shoot, I always mix those two up.

Have you been watching "I love the 70s" on VH1?

B

The Count!
One! One Baby Bat! AH-HA-HA!!
And Yes, we have been watching "I Love The 70's"

D

The Count!!! When I was little I always wanted to be one of those kids that got to sit on a wall they had the kids sitting on to hide the puppeteers and count to ten with The Count...Ah-ah-ah. As an adult who watches nothing but children programs, I like Guy Smiley now.

Mother Fucking Grover BEEEEEEYATCH!

Yes, the F word was necessary there.

Nope, Hanford, just got into a conversation with my wife the other day on the way to an antique show and I told her Oscar will always be the original junk man in my book. She's a Cookie Monster fan.

The Daily Show pointed out that Cookie Monster is a bad role model for kids, because with the way he eats cookies (with all the crumbs falling out of his mouth) he's teaching kids to binge and purge, although Cookie Monster is binging and purging at the same time.

~Hanford

Gotta love the grouchy green guy.

Although, I AM partial to the mysterious and mournful Snuffleupagus.

Or however the hell you spell that.

OH! What about those aliens that look all saggy and go "Yep yep yep yep yep" and "nope nope nope nope nope", and "brrrrrring brrrrrring"? Those guys are pretty zazz.

By the way, doesn't the Count know that there's medication available to control Obsessive Compulsive disorder?

What no mention of the Snuffleupagus (sp?), Big birds imaginary friend.. I thought that thing was cool. Big Bird is such a tripper, him and Little Bird both.
Anybody remember that weird cartoon short that Sesame Street featured involving a little baby/kid falling off of a block building? That freaked me out when I was a kid. Cartoon or not that was disturbing to my tender lil mind.

Hanford! Hanford!! Yep yep yep!!! I LOVE those guys.

Not to mention...uh, were they the creatures who did their version of the avant-garde 60's Italian hit "Mah-Na Mah-Na"?!?

That might be my favorite Sesame Street moment ever.

Well, or any moment that included Raul Julia. Anyone besides me remember his stint on the Street? sigh...

I'm betraying my age here, aren't I?

Bert and Ernie weren't bad.

You're trying to be provocative, BK.

Implying what? About Bert and Ernie? Naaaaah. I thought they were cousins.

Mah-na mah-na was on the Muppet Show. And they weren't the Yep yep yep guys. Both were great though.

Somewhat off topic: The band "Cake" did a cover of the Mah-na Mah-na song on the album "For The Kids"

Ma na mana do doodo do do... was originally taken from a Swedish porno.

My favorite muppets were the one's from Rosevelt Franklin High School... They all had cool muppet afros.

Barney!!!

Sweetums, absolutely.

Sweetums was on Sesame Street? I only remember him being on the Muppet Show.

Grover and Snuffy are in a tie as my favorites.

Do any of you Mac addicts remember the Oscar shareware? Whenever you emptied the Trash, he'd come out of the trash can and sing "I Love Trash." Cute.

--cindy (another "Sesame Street Unpaved" fan)

The Swedish Chef with the mock Swedish bit on the Muppett Show. Bjork, Bjork!

T

My dad had the 'I love Trash' trash can, haha!

I am all about the Grover. Grover is the bomb. I used to get mad at Big Bird for being so dumb. Grover was sensitive, and I like that in a blue fuzzy man.

Favorite Sesame Street character: Oscar
Favorite Muppets: Crazy Harry, Animal, Statler and Waldorf

Weird pop culture homage: There's a scene in the new Costner/Duvall western "Open Range" that seems to be a parody of the "Black Bart" routine (where the bad cowboy comes in to the general store for a crayon.) "Open Range" also stars the late Michael Jeter (who's Sesame Street run as Mr. Noodle was a bit after our time for the most part.)

Jim Henson said once that he patterned Animal after Keith Moon!

GROVER!!

Those saggy alien guys were good, too.

S

I'm a total Oscar - grouchy and messy, although I'm not often fuzzily-green.

M

Fave Sesame Street: Ernie. I was actually kind of scared by the Count.

Fave Muppet: Tough call: Sam The Eagle, Beaker, and Gonzo.

Who knew I'd love Sam so much and grow up a liberal anyway?

My favorite Muppet was without a doubt Animal. He was genius in the band Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Their song "Can You Picture That" rocked.

Gonzo has a great voice and always thought he should sing more.

P.S. I remember the Mah-na ma-na creatures being in Sesame Street .

C

Googled mah na mah na and found a.....

TIKI MIX!!!!

Mah Na Mah Na Remix Project

Favorite Seasame Street character I would have to say was Grover. All time favotire Jim henson Character though, taking into account Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, Labrynth,Return Of The Jedi, etc, etc.. I know it's very basic but Kermit was still my favorite above all other muppets. I just really liked hearing him sing, "It's Not Easy Being Green".

Here is a MAHNA MAHNA web page!!
I think there is a Satanic message in the lyrics, so be careful.

I always kind of liked the Count.

My Gran'ma was named Ernestine, called Ernie, and her husband was Bert.

Kinda makes my choice obvious: Guy Smiley!

As a kid I wanted to become famous & appear on the Muppet Show, then they cancelled it & I started to slack off...
