Bamboo Slats versus Half Rounds

Pages: 1 4 replies

Hi all. It's been a very long time since I've posted on here. After dismantling my home bar about four years ago, when I moved into a new house, I am finally getting into the planning stages of converting my garage and building a new bar. I plan to do the walls in a pretty traditional way, with about 3 feet of bamboo on the bottom and about 5 feet of Luahala matting above. As I'm researching I'm trying to figure out if I would be better off using bamboo slats or half round poles for the lower part of the walls. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Whatever you do now is the time to buy the bamboo as they only stock that stuff mostly in spring early summer.

After that it the left over stuff nobody wants.

Maybe it's not that way where you live who knows.

I like the half rounds as it looks better, but it costs more.

Good luck!

Thanks Skip. Yes the half rounds are a bit more $$.

I got a lot that was once in the Kahiki bar, it's about three foot long.
It also has a nice cig smoke patina to it.

May put it in our pool bathroom who knows.
But it was free so every now and then you get lucky.

To me the half rounds give it more of an authentic look. They weren't that hard to cut or work with.
