I just got back from Oceanic Arts with a load of Rattan (200ft+. I'm going to use it as the sides to the bar that I am building, that I hope will match my vintage Rattan furniture. I am not going to try and bend it, but will cut 3 ft lengths and have them run vertically across tha front and sides of the bar. I was hoping some of the carving crew have some tips for me. It seems that I may have to sand, or plane it a bit to remove any gaps as I put them together. Also, it looks like it make be hard to cut without having it splinter. Any advice? I spent about $300 bucks, and my wife will hang me if I screw it up. If I do a killer job, who knows what my next project could be! Cheers, KT |
