Purple Jade Tiki

Pages: 1 2 56 replies

I've done some egregiously cliched and stylized Halloween tiki necklaces.
See them on my currently inelegant website:
http://www.purplejadetiki.com
Also watch for new styles of everyday(?) tikis soon.

(Hanford & BK, is this where we post shameless plugs now, not in Collecting?)

Hey PJ is #12 on the john? Cool!

That what it looks like to me. Big Bro says he's seen the original in Tahiti, but he doesn't know what it's doing either. Seems to be a birthing tiki, but it has a willy...go figure.

Very nice stuff. That's how OA started ya know.

Wow! Are these lastest ready for ordering yet?

Wow! How did you make that quarter the size of a mug? Ha! Just kidding.

That's damn good PJ! I'm sure those will be in big demand and will probably go for a good penny...um quarter...um, oh never mind.

Har har! Hey those tiki charms are coolness! You should make them out of marshamllows and sell tiki charms cereal!

By the way, what are they made of?

Hey PJ, you made neckcharms of my tiki mug collection?! How thoughtful -- :)

Seriously, those are totally cool. Will you be producing them regularly?

H

Very cool! The volcano bowl, in particular, kicks all kinds of ass. I like the Tiki Bob, too. They look like they took a lot of time & care to make... are these going to be one-of-a-kinders?

Damn...you are one hell of an expert miniaturist. Those are amazing in detail and colors.

Sorry if I missed it, but what are these made of?
Miniaturism at it best. PJ the Miniaturist!

That takes the cake! Look around, look around.

Look around, look around.

The sun is up, the sky is blue, it's beautiful and so are you?

Thank you everyone for the props.
Now some answers...

The minimugs are made of polymer clay, as are all my tikis.

I don't know how regularly I can produce these because they are quite labor-intensive. At least not full sets like this.
I may do individual mugs special-order only.
I kinda just wanted to see how they'd be received.
I'd appreciate feedback. Think I should devote more time to these?

P.S. Still time to get tacky Halloween tikis from purplejadetiki.com!

Cute mini mugs!

You need to get molds made of them so you don't have to remake them all.

jade, those are great, the attention to detail is incredible! now the littles can drink a rays mistake in a proper mug.

Yes, SES is right. Molds need to be made of these so you can sell them in great numbers. As I understand it, it's not too difficult a process.

I have a friend here who is gonna help me out with it. If you like, I'll let you know what I have learned once I see the process first hand.

These mini mugs need to reach as many TC'ers as possible.

Oh, yeah, if there's a particular mug you'd like to see done, email me front, back and side views, please.

How about a BK mug? I think he has enough views posted on TC.

Eek...but I said I need BACK views too, don't need to encourage THAT!

Wow, those charms are great. I bet they'll loook good with the little airline liquor bottles, too.

NEW STUFF! NEW STUFF!
Plus some markdowns.

This ass of steel would cause mere mortals vision damage.

Are those tikis on the cards available? I'd love to have a Tiki Manger Scene with the 3 Wise Moais & shepards with Mr. Bali-Ha'i heads...

those are very cool.
they'd look good in any colors, but the ivory is nice - looks kinda like carved bone, too.

My favorite so far.

Those are great!
Do you get Ornament magazine? You would like it.

Purple Jade
Those are very cool, they look like tiki "soap on a rope".

Mahaloz again, folks.
It is so great to have a place to get this kind of feedback from so many voices instantly.

SES, I used to get Ornament a long time ago, haven't looked at one in a while. It made me have ambitions that far exceeded my time or energy.

PJ,

The ivory pieces are really cool, and quite different from any other pendant design I've seen or have. Very nice.

Great stuff and I understand the labor intensive aspect. So what about molds? I know liquid latex rubber can be brushed on in layers to create molds for some projects.
Seems like the latex might lend itself to small, light-weight items.

B

Excellent work Purple Jade. Those ivory Tikis are very cool! I really like the one based on Marquesan ivory fly whisk handle.

I love the miniatures!! I just sent you an email PJ.

The ivory look is just as wonderful!
