Wow! I never saw so many Hawaiian albums in one place.

His prices are kinda high though. I almost never spend more than 50 cents to 2 or 3 dollars for Hawaiian or lounge records. I guess it's still pretty easy to find good ones around here if you look often. I would pay more ($10) for something I really wanted.

On a recent weekend I found about 20 records in thrift stores including:
Hawaii Calls Sings (in Stereo);
Pianos in Paradise by Ferrante and Teicher;
lots of weird 70s easy-listening like 101 strings doing disco and John Denver;
How to Strip for Your Husband;
Rosemary Clooney with Duke Ellington;
Ella Fitzgerald;
an album of ocean wave sounds that might be nice background music for sipping Mai Tais;

Most were around 50 cents to a dollar!

Damn, seeing all these record covers gives me an itch to go thrift shopping.

Yes Jab, site's like Haku's can be viewed as a personal challenge to the avid Hawaiian record collector. After I found his site (and color-copied every page and put it in a binder for easy reference) I think I visited like 25 thrift stores and flea markets searching for Hawaiiian albums. I found something almost everywhere I went, and almost always something different -- most, as you say, for 50 cents or a buck. I have about 200 albums since I started last year, but his last update to the site listed over 300... One thing I love about these albums, is you can be sure most of them will never be offered on CD. So, the search continues.

That's funny because I was just listening to the Retro Cocktail Hour at work yesterday and I guy came in and said "sounds like elevator music"!

I woudn't call it tooting your horn. I love looking at old album jackets. It's the next best thing to finding one real cheap. Heck, I'll buy good covers even if the record is missing. I want to do my own gallery but I only have a scanner. I'll have to buy a digital camera.

An amazing array of fine vinyl & it's well worth checking out this thread whenever you get that mid-day feeling at work, "I'm bored, I want to buy something but I can't even remember what I want". The problem is when the music doesn't match the cover, but I guess album covers always work well as decoration.

Aquarj - your site hits the nail on the head, record cover-wise. Some damn fine images. I've actually had a brief chat with Cecelia (one of the records shown) after getting drunk enough to bypass her burly skinhead companion. Sadly I was too hungover to catch her early performance the next day at the Wild Weekend 2. C'est la vie.

Hey Jab, you can scan records with a scanner, and then just stitch them together. A 8.5 x 14 scanner makes a big difference though, cause then it's just two scans instead of four. They're pretty cheap too - you just have to look a little harder. Somebody's gotta make a cheap 14 x 14 scanner - that'd be great.

Aquar, that WW was actually the one at Camber Sands UK, held in a holiday camp (Pontins) much like Butlins. Cecelia WAS also at the one in Benidorm, but she didn't perform. She just sold records with the scary skinhead guy glaring at everyone who came near.

Judging by your website, the Wild Weekend is so far up your street, it's moved next door.
'Tis a pity there isn't one this year, but I assume the one next year will be stunning. It's organised by Josh Collins, who did all the Tiki decor for the South London Pacific.
