Name:Fort Nelson Motor Hotel
Street:Mile 300, Alaska Highway
City:Fort Nelson
Zip:V0C 1R0
country:British Columbia, Canada

In looking at a British Columbia travel book, I was surprised to find reference to a tiki restaurant in the extreme north of British Columbia, almost near the Yukon province.

I have found additional information on the web regarding this place; I will post that separately as a reply to this entry.

Below is a full transcription of what was in the book... there were no pictures.

From: "Travel Smart Western Canada," pg. 129

Fort Nelson Motor Hotel, at mile 300 of the Alaskan Highway.
Modern rooms overlooking a tree-lined indoor courtyard, a pool, and the tiki dining room.
Rates are variable but reasonable. Contact the hotel at: Box 240-T696, Fort Nelson, V0C IR0

Okay, and now for some things I've found about this place on the web. Ranging from positive reviews, with nice pictures, to extremely negative reviews.

Sabu the Coconut Boy displays a postcard and description of it in two places.
Here on TikiCentral at: http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=3586&forum=1&vpost=32213
and on tikiroom.NET at

A review that make the place sound REALLY run-down and skanky:

Contrasted with someone who really liked the place... this link has a couple good photos:

Another review that makes it sound absolutely horrible-- like a crack den-- although they are talking about the "Fort Nelson Motor INN" (as opposed to HOTEL) so it's possibly a different place?

Very basic info about the motel, contact info but no pictures, 3 star rating out of 5:

And it looks like you can buy it for $7M Canadian... although I'm not positive it's the same place...

Since the links in this thread aren't working so very good, thought I'd post these:

Here are two more postcards I have from this place to update the lost links.

Interesting Tikis, can't really peg the style?

Cool message on the back on the Tiki card - a lush tropical oasis on a rough and muddy travel.
