I think it is interesting how different restaurants paint the same manufactured decor piece. In this composite pic, thats Aloha (Springfield MO) on the left and Omni Hut on the right. Its quite telling of the atmosphere inside. Who manufactured these things, anyway?

I think I've seen the same piece in the Southwest used as a totem pole.

What the hell?????

Arrgh! My eyes, my eyes...the colors, the colors...take it away...!!!

To me, these are the symbols of 1980s Tiki devolution. You find more of these abominations in the Locating Tiki forum in these places:

Tiki Port, Hyanis
Hawaii Fountain
Chan's Dragon Inn
Aloha, Springfield
Lun Wah
and other Fu joints

They (and the mask in the background) were mass-made by Orchids of Hawaii, the longest standing supplier of Chinese and Polynesian decor, lamps, and cocktail mugs. The company existed into the early 90s, so places that house them are difficult to date, usually 1980s. The hung ceiling is always a giveaway.
