I know that posting yet another obituary will annoy Bong, so here goes!

Greg Shaw, writer for Crawdaddy, Creem magazines, and founder of Who Put the Bomp magazine and Bomp Records, who had an incalculable influence on underground music in the last 30 years, died yesterday. He wrote about obscure but influential pre-punk bands like the Stooges before they were well known. His was the first Southern California independent record label to record punk and garage bands, many of them from my home town San Diego (the Zeros and the Crawdaddys to name just 2 that had a huge impact on me). And his Pebbles (and others) garage compilation series from his own collection introduced almost everyone (including myself) to 60s garage and punk music, which is more popular then ever now.

It is tragic that he died so young, we have lost another great one.
