Tell 'em you're gonna need a deposit before you pour the drink. That'll keep them from wanting to drink out of any of the rarer mugs.

I don't know how many times I've had non-tiki people at the bar and they suddenly decide that they don't like the inexpensive Moai mug they're drinking out of and decide to pull another off the shelf... my brother in law comes to mind immediately! At a Christmas party a few years ago I caught him trying to pour his Suffering Bastard into my Tepco skull mug (not super rare but has significance because it came from the Hawaiian Room). I politely told him not to and that seemed to quiet his urge until I saw him later in the evening drinking his single drink out of a volcano bowl! All I could do was just hope that he didn't drop the damn thing in his drunken stupor!
