okay..here's the scoop. I had a heart to heart with sonny of hala kahiki last night and this is what I discoverd...the tonga trader being torn down has absolutely nothing to do with condos....the real deal is that the city of river grove was harrasing them about it because they deemed it an eyesore. they gave the hala kahiki an ultimatum -either fix it up or tear it down. well, it would have cost a bundle to fix it up, with no guarantee by the city that they would renew it's license, so rather than get stuck with it after shelling out to fix it, they opted to tear it down. this has it's own headaches as the EPA came down on them because the joint had asbestos floor tiles which needed to be cleaned out. they finally got the gas and water turned off and will be leveling it shortly, to make way for more parking for hala kahiki!! yay!!!

I was also told, in strict confidence about the fate of hala kahiki. Let me assure you , the future is very bright indeed. You can expect quite a few postive changes in the near future for hala kahiki. I cannot discuss them for the afformentioned reason plus the fact that I do not want to jeoprodize my involvement in these changes. I hope this claifies some things as well as being and end to this particular thread.
