I remember that my older brother used to drive up to Orlando to see groups like the Rolling Stones and the Who play at the Tangerine Bowl in the early to mid 1980s because their tours did not include any stops in Miami. I wonder if that was because we really didn't have many venues for them to perform in since we had no basketball/hockey arena until the very late 1980s. The sportatorium was such a dump! Its kinda funny to think how back in the 80s, the sportatorium was WAY out in the boonies. Now, there are housing developments that have sprawled out into the everglades!
