Okay, I'm all for tiki parties, from Hukilau to the neighbor's barbecue, so I'm hoping this will all be in good fun. But I think that, a few weeks ago, I may have attended the worst tiki/luau themed event ever.

It was at Seattle's swanky Columbia Tower Club, and was advertised to members for weeks. The decor consisted of a few cardboard Luau decorations like you might see in the produce section of Safeway during Hawaiian Days. There were awards for the best tiki outfits, though virtually no one dressed so the winners were in pretty pedestrian Hawaiian garb. The bartenders had no clue how to make a zombie or mai tai. No exotica or even Don Ho. And last but not least, the name-dropping, expensive-cigar-smoking attendees were about as far from the tiki spirit as you could possibly find.

What's the worst tiki/luau event you've ever been to?
