Put together a "Vesper" last night, recipe from "Vintage Spirits & Forgotten Cocktails". I'm a big Martini and James Bond fan and this looked to be right up my alley.

3 oz. gin (I used Boodles)
1 oz. vodka (used Three Olives brand, didn't have any Russian at the time)
half oz. white Lillet
squeezed lemon twist
prepared like a Martini

Not bad. Not bad at all. I'll be having more.

A great drink for introducing someone to a Martini-like cocktail. Vodka takes the edge right out of the gin, Lillet makes it a tad fruity (especially towards the end). Very soft, mellow cocktail. The book provides a great description and it's accurate. Incidentally, that's a really good, entertaining book with some great recipes. By Ted Haigh. If you see it, buy it.
