Well saxotica, marriage & kids got the best of me, I'm a mom & wife. I was a schooled & working Jazz Trumpet & FlugelHorn player. I don't play anymore, NO Chops :( So I suppose I would describe myself as a LOL... "un-Hip""HIPSTER" Although Holden says I'm still Hip..LOL.. what a nice guy, LOL.... I have many Favorite musicians & bands & have had the opportunity to play all types of music as well. So I'm happy to say I'm well rounded & that's a cool thing. I am not a name dropper & never wish to be so I will only say once unless asked, my favorite Trumpeter is Lew Soloff his solos & ensemble work made me want to PLAY!. Next in line is Mic Gillette & Greg Adams!!!! WOW! The Late GREAT! Maynard Ferguson!! We will miss him!! KING of the Screeching trumpets!! obviously I dig funk, jazz rock, the Oakland sound & THE BEATLES! lol I will stop there. I love & miss the camaraderie as much as I miss playing, who knows what Heaven brings ... and Yes... "Hiphipahula" does derive from "HIPSTER" Hip-hip-hooray! hip-hip-a-hula..(shes my baby).... works well I think, Gotta have a tiki twist... in the mean time??!!......"WHAT IS HIP!!!
