Very nice! I'll chime in with one more opinion. When Kitty and I were in Maui, we did the Molokini snorkle trip and enjoyed it, but
we were surprised at what a cattle call it was. Boats pulled into designated moorings for allotted time and the feeling was more of a tailgate party than an exclusive, remote dive. It's one of those things we are glad we did but won't do again if we get back over there.

Mr. TikiBar makes a very good point. The trip to molokini is a major tourist activity, sort of like going to Hanauma Bay on Oahu. An area that was once beautiful and pristine isn't so much, anymore. Hanauma Bay is still nice, but from what I can tell, nothing like what it was. That's what a million tourists a year can do.
I imagine the snorkeling areas of Molokini are the same. I think the only advantage artoodeetoo has here is that they're going to be diving, so there might be less of a crowd. Even better is the fact that they're going in sort of the "off season". Most people are back to school, and holiday vacations are all over.
Case in point: On our last trip to Hawaii, we flew from Oahu to the Big Island, and could see Maui the entire time. I was even able to pick out Molokini and saw a dive boat heading back to the island! But only one. I've seen pictures with as many as 10 boats packed into the small crescent. Ridiculous.
Artoodeetoo--
You might consider checking out the divehawaii website. They have an island by island listing of dive operators. I would think that despite the lack of personal testimonials, you might find out quite a bit with just a phone call. I think I said this earlier, see who's most willing to help you out with your situation. If they're not willing to help you over the phone, they're not going to be any help when you're on the island. Unless you want to be surrounded by a crowd, you'll want to inquire whether there are other accessible dive sites at this time of year.
You might also head over to the Scuba Diving Magzine Website and see if they have any good info. I think one of the recent issues rated dive operators all over the world, but I don't recall seeing any operators on Maui listed. I think the Scuba Diving Mag also operates a forum, so you may find some info on dive operations there.
