Hello everyone. I actually made my first post on the general forum (I'm building a Las Vegas-themed tiki bar in my basemenet complete with casino games, vintage Vegas memorabilia and a wet bar).

But I wanted to make my official "Aloha" here, too. I'm glad to have joined and am looking forward to meeting many of you select few who still carry the tiki torch, those who continue to appreciate all that was (and is) about the culture - from the lifestyle to the music to the drinks. It's pure Americana, and it can't be lost.

I smoke a pipe and listen to Bobby Darin and drink Sidecars, if that gives you an idea of where my heart is. Although I've been asked why anyone would want to "live in the past", the rest of us know better - it's not about living in the past but rather living with the past and appreciating that the tiki culture is one of substance, uniqueness and sincerity. Behind its tongue-in-cheek bird calls and plastic palm trees there exists part of the American soul that has been lost, and I believe that this is a genuine movement to regain that.

So let's celebrate and enjoy life for what it is.

Looking forward to many more posts!
