Well, I wouldnt say perfect, but thanks. To be honest it all just comes down to tight drawings, a steady hand & practiced 'eye' & even then things can move a mm or two... I have seen a great & simple tool adaption that gives TRUE 90degree side 'walls'; it is simply a small heavy steel platform (about 10cm square, a few mm thick) mounted at 90degs to the **FLATwheel & basically in the spot where I/you would 'freely' hold the carving to achieve this job. With this device you simply lay the work on the small platform and turn it around against the spiining wheel as you would a static 'router'... phew, pretty hard to explain for such a simple thing. Ill see if the carver in question will let me take a photo of it next time Im down that way. *In fact I should do the rounds of a few local carvers/factories & snap piccies of some of the trade secrets & just show how different many of these set ups are from each other. Now that there is a bit of solid interest from you apprentice Jadis I should do it - keep at me about that one! Practice & focused effort... May the Quartz be with you. T3-PO :) PS: edit for flatwheel only; this wouldnt work on a peripheral wheel... ** [ Edited by: Tamapoutini 2007-02-20 18:40 ] |
