Definitely go with a cartridge type respirator, not just a mask type nuisance filter. Bone dust can do a number on the lungs. Abalone shell is also a bit like that (I'm working with abalone currently, myself). It's not so much toxicity, as it is the creation of calcium deposits in the lungs.

A N95 cartridge filter with a good seal fixes that right up.
