Last year was my first Hukilau. First, new attendees will have a blast. It was a wonderful time, and I will definitely be back this year! As for advice, I would reiterate what people have already said. Pace yourself...I missed a couple of things last year just from being so dang tired. Hukilau is a pretty full weekend without trying to do other things around the city as well. Watch those drinks at Mai Kai. They are the best in the world, but after going in DEC and staying sober I found out there are a lot of details about the show and restaurant you miss if you have a bit too much! lol The best advice I can give is to not be shy-walk up and introduce yourself to people. Most of the attendees seemed to be a friendly bunch, but they were not outgoing to the point of making an effort to meet unfamiliar faces. The first night left us feeling a bit out of place because everyone else seemed to know each other, so the second night we started taking the initiative to talk to people and had much more fun. I can hardly wait to see some of those folks again! And a bit of advice for Hukilau pros...when you see some of those new faces, introduce yourself and make them feel welcome. It's not easy for us newbees! :)

Actually, I gotta say I was at first suspicious of you guys. I thought it was some sort of marketing ploy and was going to given the hard sell on some time share or something. It was a while before I figured out you were being generous and all and it was okay to talk to you! This year, I'll know better. We all will.
