From my checking, I found this:

Ojen
A dry anise liquor made in Spain. 42 per cent alcohol by volume. I also found that it is popular in New Orleans, so you might be able to get it there (or in Spain). If you can't get it, I would speculate that Pernod or Herbsaint might work as a substitute.

I've been looking for reasons to use pomegranate...this could be a good one.

Try some different proportions of white rum, pomegranate syrup, and Ojen (or a substitute). Maybe:

2 oz white rum
1/2 oz pomegranate syrup
1/2 to 1/4 oz Ojen/Pernod

Depending on how sweet the syrup is, you could cut with lemon or lime juice.
