Even if they did: It is fine and understandable to WISH for today's Tiki establishments to carry Tiki mugs, or to play Exotica music, even make subtle suggestions to do so. And it is good to watch for signs of "devolution" that hint at future downsizing.

But where is the humility and gratitude that such a place still exists at all? To COMPLAIN and DEMAND this, with the assumption that the Tiki revival community has any more than a drop-on-a-hot-stone impact economically on these places is deluding oneself. I know that the Hukilau and the Tiki fans certainly have an inspirational effect on the Mai Kai's staff and owners, but to come along with what smacks of an attitude of telling them how to do their business is a little removed from reality.
