If you are in the Sacramento area, the Antique Trove (right off 80 on the way to Reno, in Roseville) always has mugs. They carry everything from kitsch to mission. It is a huge place and fun to shop there, but you probably won't find any rare mugs at a good price, cause the vendors know what they have and charge accordingly.
