This reminds me of the delightful lyrics to the Burt Bacharach & Hal David song Wives And Lovers. The tune is nice (I think the version I'm familiar with is by ** Jack Jones**) but the sentiment is the sorta thing I don't miss about pre-1970something America: Wives and Lovers Hey! Little Girl For wives should always be lovers too Day after day For wives should always be lovers too Hey! Little girl A little one sided, but fortunately Tony Velona penned some advice for men in his song Lollipops And Roses (It was also recorded by Jack Jones, an instrumental version by Herb Alpert.): Lollipops And Roses Tell her you care, each time you speak, One day she’ll smile, next day she’ll cry, We try acting grown up, but as a rule, So, carry her books, that’s how it starts, |
