i would be suprised if they were glass....these lamps were made from chunks of colored lucite,which hails from the plastics family...at least the ones that were mass produced were lucite chunks.....this is not to say that some glass ones aren't out there but those are usually one-offs made by folks that may have wanted a lucite lamp but could not find one so they made their own....using the more readily available colored glass as opposed to lucite chunks which, unless you are in the biz, are harder to come by and probably more expensive than glass.....

it's easy enough to make your own....why not give that a shot?
