One of the things that really helped me put things in perspective was that my boss was visibly upset. It helped to know that he felt really badly about the situation. After the HR rep got off the call he spent about 30 mins. asking me how he could help me with the transition and apologizing for the situation. I hope you get through this OK. The best thing you can do for the person you are letting go is be human and let him know how much you hate the situation as well. Luck. Lee
