Thanks Tikivato for the bowl info. The S&P are similar to what you suggested, but I think Buzzy hit the target on the head.

Now I just need to clean up my bowl a bit and rub it down with some oil to bring out the beauty of the wood. It has what appears to be years of kitchen grease built up on it now. YUCK
