Wikipedia doesn't have any guidelines like that, they just care about being cited in credible sources... and the mods there did delete a page about FOM until some footnotes got added. But to be honest, I like your version. "We give money to charity so we can be on Wikipedia" is just the sort of random thing the FOM would do and I can think of worse reasons for giving away money really so let's stick with that.
