wow will thats a tuff question but it does have a awnser. To keep it simple I am just doing what i have to do to be like you, and all the other carvers that i admire , My secret is that I have my heros, It all started for me when I seen a chef carve fruit and Ice. I was inspired , and I made a decision that i wanted to do that ,Many people have said to me your so talented. I disagree , I just had a desire to do what this chef did,. So I made my self available to put myself in position to spend as much time with him and he tought me basic carveings, then with the basic i started doing things out of my comfort zone, One of my biggest secrets is carving styraphoam to get familiar with the carving, Being a Ice carver you really do not get to choose what you want to carve they tell you so i would practice on styraphom to learn the cuts,of some thing i was not familliar with, carving wood has change every thing for me because now i get to carve what i like, I have orders to carve but i find myself putting them off to really carve what i want to. Alot of times i do things against my ability, I do not let the fear stop me. I really am just a follower and just be what the people i admire are, the passion is what motivates me. I love carving and i have never done it for money I carve because I get lost in the zone of carving and the gratification it brings me, Thats why i have always had a hard time with selling my work so cheap but i have been getting better. Being in the culinary arts and the ice game it has just put me in position to carve shoulder to shoulder with master carvers, and that has been a advatage for me compared to people who just carve on thier own and learn by them selfs .Ice competitions have changed the way i think when it comes to carving because once you have been in one everycarve is like a competions , I have had Chefs tell me that I over detail my carvings and that its not a competion . but i pay no mine to them . you are difinitley one of my heros and you do amazing work.
