Luckily I've been training for a good many years at Tiki Oasis and Tiki Caliente. :)

I think you'll find The Hukilau more laid back than Tiki Oasis. I went to Tiki Oasis for several years (and handled their social media for a few) and I stopped going when the crowds started getting out of control and people were getting hurt. I went to my first Hukilau last year and found it much more to my liking. Folks are a lot calmer and easy-going, the marketplace is smaller, the bands are more exotica and less rock. In my opinion, it is a much more authentic tiki experience, probably because the focus is actually on tiki, rather than some hardly-related subtheme. Also, because the majority of events take place indoors, it's easier to escape the madness without having to stay at a different hotel. No loud pool noise at 4:00am. Admittedly, I'm a bit older than a large percentage of the Tiki Oasis crowd, so my sensibilities have mellowed somewhat. Your mileage may vary.
