Kaimuki, Jonesey, virani, Bullet, BenZ, Jen - thanks! Bullet, too true - it is too hard to do simple versions of these guys. I just can't cut corners no matter how hard I try. The quikis might have started and finished with #1! Well, I had a great night out with Tama at his opening. I didn't end up taking my camera because I was on foot, but he may have some pics to share when he gets back. We went on to visit another carver/friend/inspiration of ours who specialises in jade, and saw some jaw-dropping pieces in progress when we stopped by. Lots of ogling of stone, discussions about art and carving, and low-level substance abuse. Good times! Meanwhile, here's the completed skulleater. I've had a lot of interest in this guy so maybe there will be a MK III or even IV not far away! |

Yes indeedy! Precision is an understatement - however it is what we have come to expect from our friend Paipo. This piece is exceptionally tight Paipo. You never cease to impress. Where is this beach where you plan to "release" some of your rejects? When I get to NZ (one day) I will plan my entire stay around beachcoming there.... |

Cheers to all once again! I had little idea where this piece was going during most of the carving process and it really didn't work itself out til right near the finish. One of the problems that comes from doing virtually no drawing I guess. Anyway, I've always had a thing for skulls and bones, well before I was into carving and tiki, and I envisage more darker themed pieces coming soon. I know there are a lot of other tiki people that are also into horror and monsters in a big way. |

What about that submersible-thingy you get to play with from time to time? Would the batteries/fueltank make it to NZ..? You could claim it was a business trip.. T :) |

Cheers Robin, Jen, kiwishaman, G, Moondance, Ben, Pat and Bullet. The big nose (and the big lips) are for reasons which will become apparent in the next lot of pics. G is on to it... Hoping to have this guy in the bag today! |
