Still recovering from Tiki Oasis...where's the Tylenol. Some newer pieces I've done including a new digital painting with some step by step images. It's been over a year since I've done a digital piece and I've been working on this one off and on for the past few months. I wanted to keep a lighter color pallet on it. Here is the full finished image, painted in Photoshop.
This is the original rough sketch with the start of the idea. This is the color study done in pencil on paper. Here is the image built in Illustrator. I keep the shapes flat and contrasty so when I bring it into Photoshop I can easily select Here is the final painting again, painted in Photoshop. Detail no. 1 Detail no. 2 "Tales of the Undiscovered" "Bigshot" Swamp Fire Mask no.6 "Amazing X-Ray Vision Guaranteed!" "Mr. Coral Hat" "Mischievous" "Target Practice" "Oceanic mask" "Mr. Pink" "Undiscovered Treasures" "Zombie Chimp" Stay Classy! |

Beautiful work Doug! The three-dimesionality of Oceanic Mask is amazing! Also, it never occurred to me to lay down flat colors in Illustrator for a digital painting. I go from sketch to scan to photoshop. Your way seems to make much more sense to me now! |
