Does that mean Facebook isn't cool anymore?

cool poster, have a great show,
I'll be at a friends wedding that day.

Aloha Everyone! Interest in this show is incredible! Tickets are moving fast and from what I can see (and that's all the ticket sales) a lot of people who say they are going (on FB) have not purchased their tickets yet. There are only 250 available, so if you're planning on going I suggest you pick them up now. There are a couple scooter clubs that have expressed interest in purchasing a bulk...It's gonna be a fun night!

Purchase here: http://theuntouchables.bpt.me/

Just finished illustrating this poster for our show with The Untouchables!
Tickets are available here: http://theuntouchables.bpt.me/

This limited edition, hand screened poster will be for sale as well!

Both my 17 year old and 19 year old loved the Untouchables at Oasis this year and want to attend the Don the Beachcomber show. Does anyone know if Don's is imposing any kind of age limit? would be good to know before I pull the trigger and purchase tickets. :P

Great question! It may say 18 & older, but that is to discourage people from bringing small children. This is a concert environment and teenagers would be fine! See you there!

Excellent poster. GROG like.

C

Got two tickets in my hand.

Who else is in? This is gonna be a great gig.

The Untouchables have been around a few years and headlined some great shows but probably never had as strong and prestigious an opening act as the Hula Girls.

Check out this flyer from a show The Untouchables headlined in the mid-Eighties. Wonder whatever happened to the other bands booked for that show.

Haha...

HT

Cannot wait to see the Untouchables , have my poster framed and ready to be signe

Poster will be for sale at this great event.

1961Surf, my memory is not as good these days (I'm older) but I see your doing worse :P

The Golden Bear brings back a lot of memories :)

Advance Sales have ended. There are a limited number of tickets still available through Brown Paper Tickets: http://theuntouchables.bpt.me/

I have a few tickets in hand that I will sell for $15 (no svc. chg.) tonight at Don the Beachcomber between 6pm and 7:30pm only.

Don't miss out on your chance to see the recent headlining band from Tiki Oasis 12, the Untouchables AND our local favorite "Hulabilly" band, the Hula Girls. Combined with DJ Tommy Gunn, this will be an evening of foot-moving music!

We aren't sure how many posters will be produced yet, Chris. We're printing a ton, but there are usually some casualties as a result of the super tedious and meticulous hand screenprinting process. Each poster is literally produced BY HAND.

More progress from the weekend. The light blue ink goes down...

Then the flesh tone of the chick...

And finally the orange ink...

Tonight, Dinah and I are printing the gloss blackline!!
Stay tuned!!

TM

Brilliant as usual mr. Spike!

How is your lower back holding out, though?

:)

Thanks, Mick! Hope to see you at the show!

Pulled the final screens last night.

If you aren't familiar with the screen printing process, here's a quick breakdown:

A tight mesh screen is coated with a photo emulsion. The screen is burned by an exposure unit and the unnecessary emulsion is removed, leaving behind a clean area in the mesh with the identical shape as the desired image from the film.

Each color has it's own screen... and the ink is pulled through the screen onto the paper with a squeegee.

It is super easy to screw up registration, ink consistency, squeegee pressure, and a TON of other things...

We are super ecstatic about how these prints came out. The blackline is a high gloss ENAMEL ink. The contrast between flat inks and the gloss is really cool.

Each one will be numbered and signed. They are all totally one of a kind prints.
Hope you dig them! We'll have them for sale at The Hula Girls' merch table!!

M

Old School technology and great results...

Nicely done Spike

Looking forward to the event.

Thanks, Derek. I appreciate it!

Only one week away!!

Has GROG has done any hand silkscreening? And is it easy to screw up?

Love the posters. Corona Contessa and I are going to plan a week of Tiki Bar hopping in 2013 and looking forward to experiencing the Market Place.

Thanks for the comments about the poster, folks.
It's going to be a limited edition of only 70 posters. With well over that many tickets already sold for the show, they are sure to go fast!

Only $30 for a limited edition, hand screened, art piece to commemorate this really cool event! They are printed on heavy cardstock too!

UPDATE ON TICKET SALES....

With the amount of ticket sales quickly reaching the goal/limit, we will discontinue online sales this Wednesday at midnight. If you have been on the fence about purchasing in advance or waiting until the night of the event, I recommend you buy now as we may be sold out before the event.

Thanks for your support in bringing this quality show to Don the Beachcomber!!!

If you have any questions, please PM me directly. Do not call the restaurant. Thanks!

I'll have a few tickets with me tonight at Bahooka between 5 & 8:30pm if you have got yours yet.

Wooohoooo! What a Night....The Hula Girls Rocked The House and The Untouchables were AWESOME! Mahalo! Mahalo to EVRYONE who helped to make this event happen. Don's was packed with Maximum Capacity!

Thanks to everyone who came!! I have never seen the Hidden Village of DtB that crowded before. Estimates were into the 350+ in attendance!
AMAZING job to Chris Garland for doing a stellar job at promoting...and to everyone else who helped out including Karen Garland for working the door, Adrian (Polypop) for working the sound for The Hula Girls, and Susan Nelson for working our merch booth!!

Thanks to Polypop for this photo

The UTs going for it.

New UTs song idea? "Too drunk to scoot".

Last chance to get a poster. Find them on our web store @ http://www.thehulagirlsmusic.com

C

Great show, great people, and the poster ain't to shabby either.

Thanks, Chippy

Adrian did a stellar job on the sound board! the band sounded great.
Dinah & Judy danced their asses off,I sure hope they found em today?
After a full day of vending at Don's the bands energy was the only thing that kept us going all night.
I have to say that Don's staff really was on the ball too.

Oh and Stellar job to Sandra Dee for annoying the most people with her
drunken behavior, way to handle your alcohol, girl :)
