GOHANA!!!

C

And.....we've got some news for this lovely Winter Monday to make you think of warmer times when you'll all be joining us in Lake George!

Ticket news, etc. below.......AND, importantly, the KICK-OFF PARTY on Thursday:

Bargoyle's email ramblings below for your reading pleasure..........

Aloha and greetings from ice-planet Hoth!

For those who were whomped by the blizzard this weekend, I hope your Tuntaun kept you warm and safe and all is well. For those who didn’t get hit by the historic snow storm… You suck. :P

But if there’s one positive from this weekend, its that being buried alive under never-ending snow made me turn thoughts to Ohana and we were able to finalize a few things.

Sooo… BIG ANNOUNCEMENT TIME:

  1. Tickets for Ohana will be on sale THIS Friday 2/15 at …. Hmmm, lets say 11:22am EST just to screw with the web guy.

  2. Tickets will remain at $85/ea and as usual includes dinner on Saturday night at the Luau and all the fun, shows, performances, games, and shenanigans during the weekend. (That’s the lowest price per shenanigan you will find ANYWHERE. I guarantee it!)

  3. There will, once again, be a kickoff party on the Thursday before Ohana. Its not on a boat this year, but it will still kick all sorts of ass (without making me nervous about being on the water). The boat trip may return next year, but this year its ROTSOTTFLG (details below).

  4. Tickets for the kickoff are separate (we know all of you can’t make it Thursday, but if you can, it’s a killer time) and will be $25. They will be on sale this Friday as well. And yes, that $25 includes food, live music, and yet still even more shenanigans.

  5. Tickets to Ohana and the ROTSOTTFLG kick-off party make a wonderful Valentines Day gift for a cherished loved one. Just sayin’.

So, remember, at 11:22am Eastern Standard Time this Friday, go to http://www.LuauAtTheLake.com and the “Buy Tickets” link will be live. If you don’t see it right away, hit refresh on your browser, or clear your cache. Gooney’s done such a great job on the site and getting everything done so quick I’ve gotta throw him a curveball.

Mahalo for the continued support! And we’ll see you at the Lake!

-Bargoyle

KICK OFF PARTY RAMBLINGS!!

Ok, I said it a bunch of times above… ROTSOTTFLG.

And you probably think I’ve finally popped that last remaining braincell and now delirium has finally taken the upperhand. WRONG!! The (losing) battle for my sanity continues to rage on!

And the kickoff party stands to test your sanity as well….

Dare you to face the **Return Of The Son Of The Thing From Lake George **???

That’s right folks, that’s our theme for this year:

Cheesy 50s/60s sci-fi and monster movies!!

It will take place at the Tiki, and our amazing decorating committee (headed by the always lovely and talented Wahine Ina) are transforming Whispers into a wacky wonderland of movie cheese!

As usual, we’ll have food and cocktails (food is included, cocktails are on you), some great music, movies, games, a costume contest (I better see at least one Godzilla, dammit!) and the whole thing will be headlined by….

The Coffin Daggers!!

If you’re not familiar with the Coffin Daggers, well, boy are you in for a treat! The Coffin Daggers deliver an all out attack on the senses drawing from diverse influences, ranging from Dick Dale, Henry Mancini, Link Wray, and the Cramps. These guys will “stomp a mudhole into your fragile minds”…in a good way! We’re thrilled to have them, and once again Thursday night is shaping up to be a “can’t miss”… so Don’t Miss it!!!!

Oh, and about the costume contest… the sky is the limit; Be a victim, be a monster, be a robot, be the scientist with the short, wide tie and plaid sport coat… pretty much anything you want!!

And as usual, a costume is not required, but if you’re up for it, we’d love to see you in one! And in this case saying “Oh, I’d come in costume, but I don’t think I could make anything good” is no excuse. We’re talking cheesy 50s/60s monster movies!!! They had a shoestring budget and questionable artistic talent on a good day! Cheepnis is king. Bad costumes are the norm here!!!

Stay warm everyone, and we’ll see ya at the bottom of the lake… bwaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

C

This is becoming yet, another, very news-y week for Ohana - Yippee!!

Ohana is also very happy to announce 2 returning sponsors for Ohana 2013.

First-up, we've got fun, kitchy, retro-fabulous, monster, tiki-friendly Sourpuss Clothing, who is joinging us as a second year Ohana sponsor:

Sourpuss Clothing will be vending their most excellent wares at Ohana in June.

In the meantime, check out their duds & wares here: http://sourpussclothing.com/

And Ohana is very happy to announce that Fee Brothers will, again, be sponsoring Ohana - being a 5th-time supporter of Ohana Luau at the Lake!!

Fee's products will once, again, be used in the cocktails to be served at the bar during Ohana - ensuring that all the best ingredients are used for extra-awesome cocktails all weekend long.

& you can check out more from Fee's here: http://www.feebrothers.com/

And, of course......See ya at The Lake!

[ Edited by: croe67 2013-02-13 07:46 ]

C

And, of course, as promised above, Tickets for Ohana Luau at the Lake are ON SALE NOW!

You can get your tickets HERE: http://fraternalorderofmoai.org/ohana/tickets.php

As usual, ticket sales will be capped, and we do anticipate a sell-out, again, as rooms at The Tiki Resort went faster than they ever have before! But, never fear, we do have a back-up hotel, which you can also get the scoop about on the Ohana website.

& don't forget to like our Facebook page for all the latest updates, too: http://www.facebook.com/OhanaLuau

See ya at The Lake!

C

& here's the latest & greatest Ohana postcard art for your viewing pleasure!

& check out the new little Rum Renaissance fezzed tiki guy on the lower left, too :D

Room booked! Tickets purchased! New dress bought! Liver: preparing for damage!
See everyone in June!! :)

Liver: preparing for damage!

The Liver is a muscle and therefore can be conditioned, or exercised if you don't mind the foul language.

Start your work outs now and start them simple. For the first two weeks drink two beers every night. Then for two weeks drink one mai tai and two beers every night. Every two weeks add something to the practice alternating between adding cocktails and adding beer. By June you should have no problems AND be able to drink a few people under the table too!

C

We've got lots & lots of Ohana-y goodness happening this week!

Ohana Luau at the Lake is thrilled to announce a new sponsor for a very new rum called Deadhead Rum!

They'll be presenting the craaaaazy Ohana kick-off party, as well as sponsoring the Cocktail Contest this year, and having a number of other surprises up their sleeves (or, is that in their hair, since it doesn't look like this dude has arms......).

Killer bottle, huh? Check out the bottle & more here on their website: http://deadheadrum.com

And, if you're on that Facebook thingy, give like 'em there, too, 'cuz we know you're gonna LOVE them at Ohana!
http://www.facebook.com/DeadheadRum?fref=ts & give them a "like"

See ya at The Lake!

I just found out about this cool rum, and BANG, you've got them sponsoring Ohana!!! That's awesome!!!

C
croe67 posted on Mon, Mar 4, 2013 9:15 AM

AND......back this year for the 5th year in a row.....THE OHANA COCKTAIL CONTEST!
Get the full scoop below from the latest & greatest Ohana email BLAST.

AlooooooooooooooooooooooooHA!

Yowza yowza yowza do I have a bunch to tell you today! I’ll try to keep it brief, but no promises.

First, we have an amazing new sponsor… Deadhead Rum!! And if you haven’t seen their stuff, you NEED to check out http://deadheadrum.com immediately, just to see the crazy-amazing bottle this wonderful elixir comes in!!

Deadhead is really going overboard with their support, and I’ll get to all of it below, but the first thing I want to mention is their sponsoring of the annual Cocktail Contest!!

Often imitated, never duplicated, the cocktail contest is back, and once again is your chance to compete for fame and glory (and a cool trophy!) on the battlefield of mixology. As usual, you’ll have 5 minutes to present your drink, and will be judged on Taste, use of the Sponsor Rum, and Presentation. And yes, presentation STILL means “What the drink looks like” (Ie garnish, serving container, color, etc) but we welcome pageantry and theatrics in this category as well… although don’t feel you need to wear an Aztec Sun God costume and recite an epic poem to get the judges attention. Sometimes just a quick explanation of the drink works best. And don’t go over the 5 minutes. You will be gonged.

If you’d like to throw your hat in the ring to compete against other amateur mixologists, the always lovely and organized Kristiki is coordinating once again. Send her an email: Kristy.Bronner(at)gmail(dot)com if you want more info, or to sign up. Space is limited, so don’t delay, act today!!

And speaking of acting today (segue!!) be sure to buy your tickets for the event!! We’re well over halfway sold out!! Having a room reserved at the Tiki does NOT guarantee you entrance to the event, so buy your tickets before its too late!! Get em here: http://fraternalorderofmoai.org/ohana/tickets.php

Ok, now back to the Deadhead stuff. Did you see the bottle!?!?!? Were you too lazy to click the link? Ok, here’s a teaser of what it looks like:

Too cool huh? I don’t know about you, but I LOVES me some shrunken heads!

And these folks are amazing! Not only are they sponsoring the Cocktail Contest, but they’re also sponsoring the Kick-Off Party!!

Talk about a perfect fit for our 50s/60s Monster & Sci-Fi themed “Return of The Son of The Thing From Lake George” kick-off party!!! Deadhead will be right at home amongst all of our creatures of the night! We’ll have some great surprises from them throughout the party, so be sure to come out a day early and join us if you can.

Oh, we’ve also added a second band to the kick-off party… 9th Grave, who will warm us up with monster tunes that are not to be missed. You can get kickoff tickets on the ticket page http://fraternalorderofmoai.org/ohana/tickets.php and even if you’ve already bought Ohana tickets, you can still add the kick-off. Note: Thursday is VERY close to sold out as we’re limited by the room occupancy. Don’t wait to pull the trigger.

So, cocktail contest, kick-off party…pretty cool huh? But wait! There’s more! (Seriously, we can’t thank Deadhead enough… they’ve gone mental with the support!) What about the RUM itself, you say? How do I get some of that in my belly, you ask?

Well, Deadhead will be on-site for the weekend, giving out free samples, tons of swag, and will be featured in the drinks the Tiki is serving! I hear a rumor they may even be hosting a crawl room!!!

So, be sure to give them a big Mahalo and visit their website: http://deadheadrum.com or go like them on the facepage: https://www.facebook.com/DeadheadRum and let them know you’re psyched to see them at Ohana!!

Tons more to come really soon including more band announcements and rooms crawls and all manner of shenanigans!
