October 5 has been declared "Global James Bond Day." Friday marks the 50th anniversary of the release of "Dr. No," the first film adaptation of author Ian Fleming's British super spy James Bond. |

I think it was brilliant marketing getting Adele to do the Skyfall soundtrack. Not only is she possibly one of the most popular female vocalists out there right now, but her voice with the film score is very similar to Shirley Bassey (my favorite Bond theme song vocalist). BTW, the re-release of all of the Bond films in blu-ray is a real treat for Bond fans. I bought several of the Connery editions and the transfers all look nothing short of spectacular. Walmart, Best Buy and Target have been the designated retailers for the initial release of these films, but I think eventually, they will be available everywhere else (maybe beginning of next year). |

Best & Worst opening themes for James Bond movies Then again, I thought the "View to a Kill" song was one of the few good elements of any of the Roger Moore Bond films. That and Grace Jones. But what do I know? |

Great link and a bit surprised not to see one of my all time favorite opening sequences which has to be "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." This has to do with probably the best and unique scores by John Barry. It has this amazing instrumental early electronic organ sound highlighted in the opening sequence. Super cool. If you haven't heard it, check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8XNBpIkQpU I think Goldfinger and OHMSS are the best soundtracks to get for sure!!!! An obviously humble opinion. |

I absolutely loved Skyfall, it was very visceral, not a lot of gadgets, great acting and sets and as always GREAT CARS!!! Kleinman did one of the best title sequences to date (even though I miss Maurice Binder.) Music was also very well matched and Adele did a great job. I knew the exit by one of the main folks was coming so it was well done but that actress will be missed. I just finished my first pass through of Taschen's "The James Bond Archives" |

I never knew there was a James Bond thread on here. I'm a really big fan that hides in the shadows. I just saw Skyfall again at the local discount theater and can't wait for it to come out on DVD soon. I was wondering if I could reach out and ask for help here on a 'Bond Girl' photo contest I've entered on the James Bond Lifestyle webpage. I'm hoping that my photos will reach to the final round with the help of friends. My photo entries are number 87, 88, and 89. Please vote for them if you like them. I know there are a few good ones out there in that bunch as well. I would appreciate the help! Mahalo. Also, I'd like to say I'm looking forward to a few pairs of replica Skyfall cufflinks made my a cuff link maker in Italy to come in the mail! If you guys are interested then I'd be more than happy to share once they come in. [ Edited by: lilusako 2013-02-10 18:49 ] |

Yeah, there were rumors of all the Bonds, but Connery appearing, and all sorts of other goodies. I sat through the whole thing waiting for the payoff. I thought Bassey was a kick-ass start to something great, but turns out that's all there was. I know everyone loves Adele, but Skyfall is a good Bond tune because of the music, not the singer (unlike Bassey who brings something extraordinary to everything she belts out). The arrangement for the Oscars was blah. She did not make it less blah. The CD single out there is much better and if you doubt me, get the import version that also has the song without the vocals. Pure Bond. So there! |

It took quite a while, but I'm nearly finished getting all the Bond movies on Blu Ray. I just need Skyfall and the Woody Allen Casino Royal. I'm pretty impressed by how most of the movies look now. Diamonds are Forever and A View to a Kill look almost new. Still doesn't make the last hour of Octopussy any better though. |

October 30, 2013 – March 9, 2014 From the immense private collection of the intelligence historian H. Keith Melton, and the collections of the C.I.A., the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Reconnaissance Office, are objects ranging from a poisoned needle, hidden inside a coin, to a fragment of the United States Embassy in Moscow that the Soviets riddled with bugs during its construction in the 1980s. |

ATP...you do NOT...I repeat...do NOT, need a jet pack. I can easily jettison you out into the Ozone layer so you can have a look back on the world through a smog enhanced view. It will be an E coupon ride so keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times!!! Thanks for the intel King...we can only hope the "Man from Uncle" movie will do justice to the genre. Thanks to to all the hoarders in the world who hung on to all the Bond goodies. I have what I call the "Bond Bungalow" attached to the front patio of my house (bedroom, full bath, closet with microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, etc.) for guests to stay. This year I finally put some of the finishing touches on the bedroom and have several shelves of collectables and a display of moderately sized framed Bond movie posters. Can't get enough of all those fabulous Bond cars. Vroom Vroom |

Right now I am watching (on Roku on Netflix) a miniseries from England called Fleming: The Man who would be Bond. Its a slightly fictionalized biography of Ian Fleming and shows how, while he was in the military in WW2, he came up with different gadgets and ideas that are in the James Bond books. You can definitely see his inspiration for different characters and the villains. Tons of sex as well, so you can see why Bond is a ladies man, plus the infamous martini details. I would recommend the series for anyone who wants some background on Bond. |

Not sure what to think of this, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was just about my favorite show back in the 60s I preferred these shows over cartoons, as for this new movie version, I am glad it is set in the 1960s |

And I wonder, with new Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie, if the plot will be like season 1 of the TV show which was somewhat sincere action spy thriller or like season 3 which tried to compete with Batman and got campy and had plots such as the one where a bad guy dropped a huge stink bomb on Las Vegas?
