Glad I could entertain you  Most of the people who expressed an opinion about an end date for the Swap said August was better. Let's make the last day of the Swap Sunday Aug 7th with the drawing to be done on Monday Aug 8th. Hopefully some people will be able to swap in person at Tiki Oasis which starts Aug 18th. Here's a little more Maori inspired art for you, Rory's mug for the 2016 Palm Springs Tiki Caliente 8 event. Designed by Doug Horne and being produced by Eekum Bookum. (I took the liberty of cropping Rory out of the pic and focusing on the mug  ) |

That's a start Jon! One last design element, the pikorua or Maori twist. The pikorua symbolizes relationships and, since it is without end, it represents the lasting friendships forged here in the Art Swaps. OK, that's a crock - I picked the pikorua because I needed a long and skinny design  Now to clean and refine everything as it dries. |

I will refrain from making any off color comments from the last few posts.... I'm on hold until I have a few days to get started. I have a plan, will just have to see if the pottery wheel gods will be with or against me. Kind of a test, since I haven't thrown anything (well, clay-wise, at least) in a long while. Love seeing everyone's work so far! |

I was just typing no painting from me and then I remembered - FACEBOOK! Yes, the palm tree and sunset painting was from one of those painting evenings where everyone paints the same thing with the guidance of an instructor. All the rage in this area! Monday is the start of 4th marking period and my schedule changes. I told my 2nd period class that some days I have that period free and when they start clay I'll join them. So there's hope. :) I need to start Googling! |

SWIZZ!!! Good to see you here, cool shirt & story. Good to know that phrase is actually in use. Sometimes when you find something on the internet... A little time for some progress today 4x4 inches, from a free truetype font "LDJ Maori" When you hurry through life, you just get to the end faster. [ Edited by: MadDogMike 2016-04-17 17:24 ] |

I'm firing those 2 Maori font pieces as test tiles for a glaze color. Also trying out a new kiln controller, if it works I will resurrect my "Platterful of Pupule" thread and post the controller saga. Also have a plan for my next Maori themed piece, it involves GUNPOWDER!!! :o [ Edited by: MadDogMike 2016-04-23 12:30 ] |
