Hi! I just started my journey this past 2 weeks. I've made a lot of progress so far but not anywhere close to being done. It's definitely a labor of love! When I bought my house, I knew this corner of the basement would be just right for a bar space. Then I decided to go all in on Tiki! First, I picked up this vintage bar and chairs that fit perfectly in the space. The chairs are either going to need replaced or a lot of TLC. I decided I wanted some kind of fun wallpaper and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I have some lines and mistakes, but I figure when its dark and everyone has a drink in their hand who cares! Unfortunately, the wall texture is making it peel off and I've had to reapply some adhesive. Also picked up a few items from the thrift/antique stores. This past weekend was busy where I got 2 masks, an ice maker, 2 extra chairs, and 3 nesting rattan/bamboo tables scattered through the area. And a color changing bulb in the lamp. Note the "bar sign." I'm a huge survivor fan so I took some artistic liberties (stolen). The name was probably my first idea but needs more work. I love the atmosphere so far and excited to keep working. My current To-Do List: I'm happy to accept helpful critique. Still a work in progress and learning a lot! Thanks for reading! whats making your wallpaper peal is you did not prep the wall first....you left the shiny paint on the wall. You MUST sand to a flat surface (MAT) and then apply a base coat of the glue...allow it to go tack and then apply more and then apply the paper. Failure to do that, especially in a basement will cause it the paper to start to pull away from the wall as the glue dries. It will do it quicker when it goes from damp to heated air as your basement wil when the temps fluctuate....sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, If it were me I would strip it and start over. |
