St Patty's Day Grand Opening Weekend at the Pinch! Lotsa Art!

Pages: 1 19 replies

Howdy friends!
There will be a Premier Party Gallery Opening at the Pinch in Costa Mesa this Saturday on March 3rd. It's a group exhibition and I'm not sure of any of the names of the other artists except Donny Miller and Ben Brough, but that's good enough on it's own to attend! I'll be showing 5 paintings, the most exciting will be the very first public display of my 4x4' " Land of Pele"

Here's a detail from it...

(guaranteed to keep you mesmerized for at least 20 minutes! or your free admission will be reimbursed...),as well as the small, but enchanting " Night Parade" a deep orange fantastical ink drawing all framed and pretty!

Just doing my part to represent for the Tiki Ohana.....
Also thrown into the mix will be some of my religious/conspiratorial/political paintings that are sure to stimulate some thought..."the Four Horsemen","Revelation 13:1" and "Political Passover". The party starts around 8:00 and Dee Jay Cocoe will providing the aural ambiance.
The address is 440 East 17th Street in Costa Mesa California. It's almost next to the Little Knight (which is a freakshow in itself...)and down the block from La Cave...
Please come on down and support all the fine local talent that only Costa Mesa can provide! Free Hugs for all TC Ohana who show up!(I'll be the guy in the corner who looks uncomfortable...) Hope to see you there!

Well Jeff!
There's the Little Knight a couple of doors down, which has decent drinks and some purdy ladies...there's also La Cave which is about half a block up the street across the street. You can eat great food there and it usually has some live entertainment (Phil Shane plays there sometimes!) and if you just want to hook up with some skanks, there's Pierce Street Annex a few blocks down! I hear the Cougar hunting there is Great! :)

Think we'll be coming on by to check it out, K-man.

I'm hoping that Hollywood Majic down the block is still there.

Need to get some gags!!!

" What the hell is that smell!!!??"

Rock on Ken!

Ben!
You're still alive! Still sniffin that knee salve they gave you? Sounds like you're feelin better! That's Rawkin!!! Never heard of this "Hollywood Magic" store, tho I'm sure any establishment that sells plastic vomit and doody would never go out of Business!!!! Hope to see you guys there! Thought I'd post another of the pieces that will be there...This one is the least religious of the remaining unpictured three...It's called "Political Passover" and you can figure out the barely-veiled meaning for yourself....Aloha!

I was just in Hollywood Magic yesterday picking up my new cell phone. That's right, it's a Cingular store now. My friends' all girl band is playing that show too. Should be an interesting art show.

Hey Spike!
Aw! Ben is gonna be BUMMED!Maybe I can scrounge up some real vomit for him so he doesn't walk away empty-handed.
I think the name of the all-girl band is VIRAGO. Wasn't sure if they were playing on the Grand Opening Night /Premier Party...I do know they'll be playing there live at 9pm on March 17th during their Friday thru Sunday Grand Opening Weekend...Well, I know we shouldn't post religious or political pieces, but this is a tightrope walking interpretation,so I'm gonna post it just to get some more excitement flowin....
May I present "Revelation 13:1 with Mechanical Beast" If you come to the show I can wax philosophic about the symbols within....

Hope to see you there on Saturday!!! Free Hugs!

BUMP-A-ROONIE!
the Show's tonight around 8-9:00ish! They'll be some great art and hi-jinx aplenty!
Free Hugs too!

Great work!!!

Ughh.

Sorry LLT but got to bail on you again. Dug up 20 feet of dead bananas today and I'm wrecked!!!

Now it's miller time!

p.s. Poke Spike aka LuckyD in the eye for me!

Have a Spended Opening!

Hope the opening went well...if I was in SoCal, would have been by to gawk at the Land of Pele...that is just crazy fantastic!!! :)

Hey Folks!
It was pretty fun last night-sorry if you missed it!
Ben...maybe next time my friend! Nature must be attended to! Didn't see LuckyD,I probably didnt recognize him because.....well.....I never met him!
Kustomtiki....thanks man! I'll do my best to keep you stoked!
VampiressRN....Mahalos for the Well Wishes...thay seemed to have worked!Glad you liked "Land of Pele"-there were plenty of gawkers checking it out! As the evening progressed and the booze and whatever else kicked in,there was a steady handful of folks just zoning on it! Hilarious!!!
There was probably around 300-400 people over the course of the evening!!! The DJ was spinning and the art was flowing! There were zillions of paintings covering the walls salon-style! The artists included Russ Pope/Paul Brown/Nancy Scanner/Mike Aho/George "Roach Master"/Ken"Little Lost Tiki" Ruzic/Ben Brough/Bradie Shemkie/Upendo Taylor/Craig "Skibs" Barker/Mike Zepeda/Matt Nicols/Sean Fahlin/Teddy Kelly/George Thompson/Nate Coonrod/Ron Upperman/Emily Ahoy/Justin Ruiz/Kristie McKnight/Tyler Gilt/Matty Thompson/Abel Aquino/Mason Brown/Casey Holland/James Lugo/Kris Nakamura/Sticky Shaw/Josh Bricker/Madsteez/Mark Owerko/Tyke/L.A. Charlie/and Dean Bradley...Lots of great and fun work to look at! And I sold a painting! My "Four Horsemen",the only piece i didn't preview here was adopted by a lovely couple who had just moved into their new home that day!

Seeing their excitement and happiness makes it all worth it! That and meeting so many wonderful people, including the founder of the Cardboard Robot line! Joy!The gallery will also be having a Grand Opening Weekend on the St. Paddy's Day weekend so I'll bump this back up for that when it comes around!

Little Lost Tiki,

I like your work.
I take it that you emulate Marc Chagall?

Way to revive an old thread!
You nailed it christiki295!
A bit of Chagall,Dali,Miro,Brueghel,Michaelangelo,to name a few, plus countless comic book artists and cartoonists and books, books, and more books!
here's a link to my art thread on TC,actually have a study that totally evokes Chagall in the most recent work!

Thanks for diggin the work!

Gee, LLT, i thought your work looked more like Charles Schultz!
K.

I always seem to think of Jim Flora when I see your stuff LLT......or what Jim would paint if stranded on easter island with a case of rum and a pile of greenery.

Thanks kids!
NOW WOULD YOU ALL PLEASE LET THIS THREAD DIE!?!?!?
IT'S OVER A YEAR OLD!
the Pinch gallery is now the Light Gallery so...
LET"S MAKE ROOM FOR FUTURE EVENTS!
Move along.....
