Good work everybody, I am discussing this with the client today, hopefully we will have chosen something by tomorrow.

Thinking as an Englander, which I'm not, I'll submit - The Torch-Light Retreat

To add to the Lava Pit theme that is a perenial fave, the Brit's might like it spiced up a bit with, Madam Pele's Lava Pit
What an awesome paint and lighting scheme they could have if the building were round-ish.

Good luck with it all!

There are too many great name ideas! Some considerations in such matters: For one, the desired degree of sophistication, then there's the the cute factor, the authenticity factor, the "first read" element by the public within the particular culture, there's the consideration of competitor's names, second meanings and just-how-clever-can-you-stand-to-be, and on and on.

AND after all this the owner decides to name the place after his daughter! (It happens!)

O

Good luck with your new island bar. How about the Cheeky Tiki for a drink because I have the perfect name for your island bar. Kiribati island. This island was the first one to sink beneath the ocean about 10 years ago. Followed by Vanuatu and the rest are gone or going. Lohachara island, Sagar island and Ghoramara.

You might want to talk with SOK over at Yo Yo Island, they sink and rise from the ocean every day.

okay..that's enough...if you can't find a name outta all these you ain't gonna find one at all...now pick already!!

The Beer'ded Clam!

Trader Jim - Make mine a wet one!

Or maybe...No! Definately The Beer'ded Clam!!!!

Trader Jim - Make mine a Beaver Shot!

The Suffering Wanker

The Viscious Fanny

The Vicars Downfall

3 POME's and a Parrot

Roundabout Happiness

The Arch Wayout

The Buggered Wahinie

The Bollocksed Bastard

That's more like it!

Trader Jim - Make mine one of what what he's drinkin'!!

Did anyone already say The Crab & Winkle?

Trader Jim - make mine a Shandy Bass...geddit? Shandy Bass, like as in fish? Bass? No? Oh forget it!

Seriously though, just for a minute. What about Hale Kokani .

Trader Jim - Make mine Mai-Tai!

After much deliberatin we do have a name, but first I would like to say thanks to everyone for all of their suggestions, some great ideas .
Anyway in the end the name chosen was......

....Shangri-La

Thankyou LynnMcTiki, PM me your details and we'll send yousomething cool from CheekyTiki.
The name was chosen for it's link to the Kinks which creates a good back story and the fact people here should understand/ be able to pronounce it etc.

Again thanks to everyone, trader Jim if you would like to continue this thread for your own pleasure with more of your suggestions, you are welcome

No, that's o.k. guys, I'm done pleasuring myself for the time being!

Trader Jim - Make mine a MAI-TAI at the Shangri-La!

Oh yeah! Congrats LynnMcTiki!!!!

Ray Davies should be happy! It is kind of a pre-Tiki, 1930s/40s term, but it will probably ring a bell in Europe more than its Tiki equivalent, Bali Hai. I have a nice Swizzle stick design for it already :):

Look at that detail!

Will anyone remember the original? Too "dated"!

Good name, although Trader Jim's suggestions had a certain something...

Well done to the winner.

Looking forward to the opening of this new edition to the world of britiki.

I did get a sneaky peek at the space and at the designs. Some great touches and features, can't say anymore...

Would that be a dozen Mai Tai's?

At the very least!!

When I read LynnMcTiki's post I though "Darn it" because Shangri-La is the perfect name!
"Now that you've found your paradise..."

Looking forward to the opening!

LOL-A...

Wow, this is so cool!!! Our computer has been down since Friday so I just found out about this today.

Thank you CheekyTiki for the opportunity to take part in this! I’m really excited to find out that that I helped name a Tiki bar and as a Kinks fan I’m happy to hear that the new bar will still have a connection to the band.

Hope to be able to visit Shangri-La someday and check it out. Cheers!

New advert for act on CO2 / climate change uses Shangri-La...

Dr Who also visits the shangri-la holiday camp in wales in the story "'Delta and the Bannermen"'

Oh and that episode was filmed at the Butlins Barry Island camp which once bosted the largest bar in europe, the Beachcomber unfortunatly this burnt down in the sixties, but how cool would the new shangri-la look with a picture of Dr who drinking in the Beachcomber.

If I EVER have a band, I've decided on calling it Delta and the Bannermen...

How cool that, once, the biggest bar in Europe was a 'tiki' bar!
