Not insulting after the year supply of jerky they better be sending him.

UB

So Al, you're carving Tikis out of meat now?

C'Al,

You need to get SHAG's Lawyers on this pronto!

.....p.s.,

Maybe I should get SHAG's lawyers on everyone ripping

off Lee's Tiki Hideaway room, also.

Hmmmmm...

Holy crap! That's pretty sad.

T

I wanna try the buffalo kine.

Hey now, I was just getting ready to rip off some stuff from Lee's place.

Sorry about that.
To stay on topic, I don't think it's insulting. Whoever stole the image probably thought "What a cool design. I'll use it." I don't think the jerky part was ever considered in a negative way. It also kinda fits with Trader Joe's whole theme.
2 cents.

I dont get it.. what does Crazy Al have to do with Beef Jerky?

Is this a rip off or was it a agree upon promo?

How do you tell the difference between the Natural or the Organic?

The real question is, did Crazy Al sit for the drawing? Or do you think they did it from a photo?

CA

Well very often folks do have their art & images copyrighted, yes? often times No. is this image close enough to Al's original art piece I have seen many times? Could be. I'm a "dummy" ? or you were referring to something or someone else? Great fundraiser Dibroc had for you btw this dummy had a great time. :D Hope all is looking good, wishing you the best...

Yikes everybody!

I just thought that this was funny. (It certainly made me laugh.)

The picture is Al's logo from his Tiki Magazine article. I figured that maybe Danny had something to do with it since he works with Trader Joe's on occasion.

I thought it was funny - interesting too Kate I was just being facetious when I was jumped & called horrifying names :D so I be-och slapped back. My mom can kick anyone's ass she wears army boots!

Each TJ's gets a lot of leeway as to what art gets on the walls & signs, and I think they hire artists local to the store locations, too, so you probably won't see a sign like that. I have seen closely related signs turn up half a continent away, so the corporate offices may send out semi-official clip art books, but I don't know anyone who works there to ask(I used to see Joe in the Pasadena store, but I only knew him to say "Hi, I really liked the Macadamia-Cashew Butter.").

T

C Als face is on it so that means its his. Crazy Al, go into one of the Trader store and take your souvenir out with you.

THAT is pretty funny!
Kudos to Kate!
You got those antennas out and the radar up!
Trader Joe's puts up and takes down so many signs-they're always changing....
Crazy Al is an icon to the Tiki world AND sometimes a jerk...
see example below.....
(he made us all arrive at the mModern show late so he could primp and preen!)
The jerky has probably sold-out and the sign's probably already down..
A kooky tribute to an awesome guy and carver who needs his face out there more
for people to appreciate and learn more about him!

He should at least call them and get some free groceries out of it!

i would wager whoever put it up is a poster here who wanted to see if people would overreact.

'tis pretty funny. :)

I think he's a sell out!
