alohacurrent and Psycho Tiki D go to Trader Dicks July 18th-20th

O.K.,

Not exactly a California event, but just across the border...

alohacurrent and Psycho Tiki D will be dragging Mrs. alohacurrent and Tiki Hammer over the stateline to imbibe in some of the Nevada desert's finest tiki splendor this next weekend at Trader Dick's.

So far the ladies are on board with the plan since massages and spa time are on the itinerary. Who knows what other hidden surprises await them? I will be going to the Magic Carpet mini golf course to snap a couple of shots of the Moai on the course.

If you are anywhere in the area Friday or Saturday night, come by and say hello. We will be the really drunk people at the bar (or floor)! I had the Navy Grog recommended to me this weekend and from what I hear, it is pretty strong, right?

As an added bonus, my Reno firefighter buddy Kevin will be there on Friday night to spin yarns of disgusting firefighter tales and will be telling the most offensive jokes on the planet.

Hope to see some TCers's there! You aren't afraid, are you?

I'll warn Reno 911 ahead of time!!! :tiki:

Hope to see some of ya there!

Make sure yo uhave a camera with you. We want to see pics.

Wow,

The weekend went by way too fast! We had a great time and were able to do lots of cool things.

Trader Dick's is great until the music in the dance area begins bumping in the evening. Way too much eighties pop (Theme from Ghostbusters and Electric Avenue by Eddie Grant) spoiled the ambiance and the crowds of casino zombies can ruin the mood.

We found the Peppermill Casino and resort to be more to our liking. The Fish Bar served up some delicious drinks in tiki mugs as well at this joint. The Fish Bar has a huge aquarium on the walls and is similar to the aquarium at Trader Dicks in size. No Tiks to speak of though! The Fireside Lounge was worth a visit and had the cool traditional circular fire pit with water feature for us to all sit around and chill at. It seemed like every 50 feet there was another bar.

Here is the website to the company that provides the tiki, volcano and shark mugs for the drinks at the Fish Bar:

Next time we will be staying at the Peppermill and cabbing it over to Trader Dick's. Pictures to follow soon!

Me lika da Volcano & Shark mugs....looking forward to pics!!!

Corona Contessa and I will be heading to Reno next weekend. We are staying at John Ascuaga's Nugget http://www.janugget.com/ so Sandy can get her gambling jones on and I can check out Trader Dick's. I am not a good photographer but will try to capture some pictures.

Hey, if you get a chance, check out the Banyan Bar/Lounge at the Peppermill, supposed to be a South Seas escape with tiki drinks, thunderstorms, etc. Have fun!

Will try to do that...thanks for the suggestion.

Wow my first time to Trader Dicks...it is awesome. Played a little video poker and now I am sitting chilling in the bar with a Backscratcher. Ran into Martin here...fun to run into Ohana when you are in the right setting. There is a wonderful Hawaiian trio playing tonight and I am dreaming I am in Kauai. I only have my cell phone for pictures so will try to snap a few. The service here is wonderful...can't believe I haven't been here sooner.

My Mom wanted to go to visit a friend who is recovering from an auto accident in Sparks, so stayed at The Nugget as a weekend Mother's Day gift. I like staying there as they have great customer service, we had a lovely room in the East Tower, my Mom has trouble eating but did well at Rosey's Cafe. I managed to enjoy watching the awesome fishtank and sucking down several Back-Scratchers. Love Trader Dicks!!!!

Say hi to mom for us. We'll have to remember to go there one of these days, Wendy
