I finally had a chance to listen to some of the cuts. These guys are really, really good! Almost note for note perfect renditions of classic exotica songs. If I could only make one complaint: It sounds like the bass being used is over amplified. If it was me, I would lose the Pick-up and go with a microphone only. That is, if an acoustic upright is being used. To my ears, it sounded a bit like an electric upright bass (Minimal body, basically an electric bass in a stand-up configuration). Are my ears wrong on that? The other thing was that they should get some originals. |

Thanks for the kind words Lucas! You have good ears. That is indeed an electric upright on the recording. Our bassist, Bob Strickland, generally plays a (gorgeous) acoustic, but it was in the shop when we did that demo. And I stress the word DEMO. We did the best we could given the limitations of the instrument. We have originals, they're just not recorded yet. We had to start someplace! You'll hear originals and classica exotica during our Hukilau sets! |

You are welcome! I am loving it so far! Refreshing to hear a band where they are actually using jazz style chords. A person starts to get a little tired of basic chords sometimes. |

Is that the same Bob Strickland that finds uprights in bad shape and brings them back to life??? |
