Forbidden Island problem? [EDIT]NOT!

Pages: 1 23 replies

My friend Velocity, who lives on Alameda, sent me an email saying there was a "For Lease" sign on Forbidden Island?!?! WTF! She only went there once (even though she lives just up the street) so she may've gotten the address wrong; could someone please go by, check for the sign, and report back?

[EDIT] OK, it looks like Velocity was a block (or half a block?) off on the "For Lease" sign; like I said, she'd only been there once, and was busy when she drove past.

There is a LOT of retail space across the street and on all sides of FI, so I wouldn't get too excited too quick.

Post a pic and we'll know for sure...

J

Maybe try asking Molokai Mike since he owns the place.

Jen, I would if he were around; could you please run down & take a picture for us showing where the "For Lease" sign is at?

J

I don't really have time to run across the bay to take a picture right now. However, I did send a PM to Molokai Mike here on TC with a link to this thread so an answer can be provided by the authority on the subject of the status of Forbidden Island.

NOT AT ALL!! It must be on a neighboring property.
No cause for concern. Forbidden Island is stronger than ever!!

It's most definitely on a neighboring building. I popped down to check it out, and Michael posted before I had a chance to get back. There is definitely NOT a for lease sign on Forbidden Island or anywhere nearby the building. If you go up a block towards Pagano's Hardware, there are two buildings next to each other, next door to the laundromat, and one has a sign that says for rent, and the other has a sign that says for lease. No need to worry, my friends. See you there this Sunday, Michael. :D

Forbidden Island

Not Forbidden Island

Freddie, your buddy Velocity shouldn't have had that last Mai Tai!!
She (he?) cannot recognize the bar from the outside. And an Almeda resident to boot?!

Whew!!! Thanks for the rumor control. :)

Thank you Mike & MaiThai! I was afraid I was never going to get to go to FI!

So get yer booty up here now Freddie!

Good thing that's all cleared up.
Although, there is still a problem with Forbidden Island...
I'm not sitting at the bar right now with a drink in my hand.
That's the problem.

I share your pain, brother. It's a tragic situation all around.

I'm glad the case is closed but could you go back and change the title of this post please? I don't enjoy heart attacks!

Yeah I agree.

OK, first post edited to show that people have checked & found the place for lease is just up the street.

H

Maybe you should change it again to identify a different problem...

This is totally untrue! Not a single element of the mixology has changed since Martin left.
I don't believe in fixing what ain't broke. Why would I start using mixes. Please folks, nobody wins when blatant rumors like these are flung around. Our servers and bartenders are happy to go into detail about anything! Please check in with them before posting unchecked rumors!
