Mr. Toe's Wild Ride

B

Mahalos for stopping by.

Contrary to what an initial viewing reaction may be, i do have reverence for the art, folklore, religion and cultural traditions of the Polynesian Islands. The "tikis" in my art are meant to represent the male ID, to convey the pure visceral rush of "stoke", or "lust for life". Please enjoy

"Ruby's Dilemma", Acrylic on canvas. 18 X 24(ish). Inspired by the intoxicating Miss Monica Renee (ne: Ruby Devore).

"Zombie Tiki", inspired by the Tiki Oasis 2008 Theme. 30 X 48", acrylic on Canvas.

"Barrels or Bust", 17 X 23", Acrylic on Driftwood. i painted on bare wood and finished with satin varnish to retain an earthy finish on this one.

"Last Rezort", 20 X 24", Acrylic on board. A "companion" (bookend?) painting to my "Ruby's Dilemma" painting.

"Da Hui", 12 X 12", acrylic on Canvas.

Such fine detail. It's so much fun to look front to back to see what's lurking there. Wendy

Love the pain you bring, Toe. Your art is resplendent as well...

T

Toe -

Your thread is udder bullshit

Kidding aside...

I know I've said this before but your art presented here ALWAYS brings a smile to my face and respect, you know. There's a certain wacky Mad Magazine vibe or more to the point - a HUGE Odd Rods gum card flavor that I love (as a kid my parents hated those!)

...and that my friend is the highest of praise I can bestow upon anybody

Carry on my friend. G

B

Wendy, Andy, G, thanks very much!

detail of the mysterious Wahine:

B

OK, so this one isn't tiki, but it is Ocean related, huh?

"Sailors Grave" Acrylic on salvaged vintage table top, 22" X 30". This piece will debut at a show that opens 4/3 in San Clemente at Syrens Gallery. http://syrens.com

This shot is in FULL SUN, so the painting usually reads darker, like it has been sitting in a smokey study for a few centuries.

Z

MR

Looking great. Favorite painter on TC. Something about your style just works for me. Dig it!

Big Toe, your art is so very cool, I really love it, awesome. The characters are perfect, every shape, line, look, expression, not a brush stroke out of place.

T

OK, what's wrong with this tread? NOT ENOUGH AWESOME BIG TOE ART!!!!

Let's make with the masterpieces, Mr. Toe!

Seriously, LOVE what you've posted so far. That "Fresh Bait" skateboard is killer! Love how the tiki has a knife carved out of wood!

B

"How About a Little Head?" is my submission for the first 2010 tiki swap.
The theme was shrunken heads.
Special MAhalos to pin-up muse Micheline Pitt for inspiring the girl and tiki juggernaut THOR for inspiring the shrunken head!

TOE-rrific!

Your ability to capture expression in the faces of your artwork is amazing.

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrockin!

SUPERcool, Tom!

B
